Does anybody know anything about the PENN Surfcaster "Guvnor",I've been advised that it might be the rod I'm looking for and also it's in my price range with a 525 super mag thrown in.(£185.00 at Gerrys) OR The Daiwa Supercast 13M and a sl20sh or a 525gs (£200.00) at Gerrys. Any info as I've narrowed it down to these after months of research and saving pennies. After all it's 20 yrs since I had a new multi and 10 since a new rod Also is the supermag a pregnant dog to play with, and would the slosh be easier?

Sorry to contradict you but allthough they may be a Penn Dealer they do not do the packages that Gerry's does, The best place to go is North East Angling ( Cairns ) at Hartlepool they do a lot of deals on both the rods and reels and are very competitive and it's allways worth having a feel of a rod before you buy otherwise you could end up paying out a bomb for something that just doesn't suit at all. The Penn 525 supermag is a really good real with it containg both mag and Centrifugal braking systems and has an excellant retreive too.
