Fished Port Mulgrave area Sunday 29/01/06 Caught no fish but did find this unfortunate specimen washed up among the kelp, I think it is known as an Atlantic Pomfret, it was approx 45cm long & 3lb in weight. Any comments as to it's true ID would be appreciated.

How appropriate Ray that the fish in question is called a 'Ray's Bream'. Apparently they were frequently washed up on our shoreline years back and obviously banned from matches. They seemed to dissapear (like most things in the sea) but are making a bit of a comeback. Only recently one was found up North around the Tyne area.
