Yeah thats right apperantly he was washed up and took to the James Cook Hospital where he died I don't think it was Angler though because on the news it said that everyone else around was accounted for, There is some silly people about when it comes to the sea they think that they can dodge waves and allsorts and often come to greif. That said though my sympathies are with the family who have lost a loved one

Not good news, seems to be a regular occurance when the weather gets bad, people will try and push their luck
i saw some kids tryign to jump the waves on the slipway at redcar...they must have been 15-17 you would have thought they would have had more sense!
ive just found the following on the bbc news website
Man swept to death in rough seas A man has died after being swept away by massive waves on Teesside. The 41-year-old Redcar man is believed to have been fishing when he fell into rough seas off the South Gare at the mouth of the river on Sunday afternoon.
The Redcar and Teesmouth lifeboats, police helicopter and an RAF Sea King helicopter took part in the search.
The man was found by police officers near to the shore and flown by helicopter to the James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough where he later died.

Bernard Westgarth is going to try to get it removed from the Saltburn Club but they have just had a meeting about Bounderies and they left the South Gare in then but I agree with him, both the South Gare and Skinningrove Jetty should be removed from ALL club bounderies instead of people signing a waver to excuse the club from any responsibility if they go on there. I have said before that Clubs are supposed to be :responsible groups of anglers who should show the young ones how to go on not set them a bad example by allowing it's members on to jetties where they are signs saying No Entrance To The Public

Could not agree more Jim ;D Lets lead by example, the clubs should make sure that thier members follow safety signs, they are there for a d@mn good reason. Its ok signing wavers but what if something terrible happens, im sure the family of victim and the club themselves would think the club a bit responsable. The only way to be sure is to ban places with warning signs (within reason) from match boundries. Lets keep angling safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sort of agree with yers regarding south gare and skinny that the signs being there for a reason and clubs should follow public rules ie~no entry , litter etc but at the end of the day shore fishing on a rough sea is not the safest thing to be doing and if it wasnt at the gare were the poor fellow perished it would of been somewere else and it could and probably will happen again. touch wood , Remembering back i was once fishing on the gare in a big sea about year and a half maybe two ,i was fishing half way down the jetty on a big sea well back from the ankle high water that was running along the jetty everytime a big wave hit maybe every 2 maybe 3 mins and i mean big , anyway there i was fishing with me pa and along come about 3 mayb4 lads, one of the lads continued on walking to fish to the left of us toward the end ,he never even asked about conditions ,he just walked straight by ,at this i started to walk closer to him and let him know when boom a biggy hit (impressive sight) and the wash maybe an ankle or more deep took the lad clean off his feet and started to wash him off the side near where the fence use to be, needless to say i had to run to his aid , i fecking nuts meself, i tought that lad was a gonna that day , so i had flashbacks when read that about the south gare . condollenses..
